Yuri’s Night: JAPAN 2026 Featuring NPO Mars Society Japan

Yuri’s Night is an annual event held in cities around the world to commemorate the first human spaceflight by Soviet Major Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961.
This year, we’re hoping to gather at a restaurant around Nihonbashi after the monthly study session of the NPO Japan Mars Society (http://www.marssociety.jp/) which is held monthly by volunteers at Space Systems Development Co., Ltd.
The venue will be the Belgian Beer Cafe in COREDO Muromachi.

Participation in only the Yuri’s Night is fine, but if you’re interested, please also drop by the Mars Society study session starting at 13:30.
– To celebrate humanity’s past successes in space exploration and challenges to the unknown, and to share the mysteries of space and the preciousness of Earth with all of humanity.
– To consider the state of science and technology, including space development, and the problems that need to be solved in global society, and to create an opportunity to explore and share what we should do in the future for this planet and for the future of us humans who inhabit it.
While the current global situation is increasingly questioning the very purpose of this event, past Yuri’s Nights have often served as catalysts, meeting places for startups, and driving forces for citizen-participatory space projects that have been gaining attention in recent years. These include the inclusive participation format and sponsorship acquisition methods used by the private lunar exploration project HAKUTO through public events, and the establishment of a network of young space professionals and proposals at the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. It is deeply moving to see how these past events have contributed to the rise of citizen-participatory space projects, which have gained prominence in recent years.
The citizen-participatory Mars habitat simulation facility envisioned by the NPO Japan Mars Society will not merely serve as a preparatory facility for a trip to Mars, but will also play a crucial role in questioning the nature of human civilization, clothing, food, shelter, and human relationships, and in envisioning a future Earth in harmony with nature.
